Fideo for $1 hmmmm Vermicelli
7 oz package of Vermicelli (Tierra Linda): $.39 at HEB
1/4 cup of tomato sauce
2 1/2 tsp of Chicken Bullion powder
1/2 tsp of ground cumin
1/4 tsp of pepper
1/4 tsp of garlic powder
1 1/2 tablespoon of cooking oil
4 cups of water
In a sauce pan set to medium high, add the cooking oil. Once hot, add your vermicelli, and stirring often until most of the Vermicelli has browned. Add all other ingredients and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to a low/medium setting, cover and simmer for 10 minutes. Turn off heat and let sit for 10 minutes to allow the vermicelli to continue to cook. Then Serve!
For a less soupy fideo reduce water by 1/2 cup. For a soupier fideo, remove from heat, uncover, and allow to continue cooking for the last 10 minutes.
Alternatives: Add chopped potatoes, or left overs like ground beef, chicken or vegetables.

Mac N Cheese
Just saved $21.75 in coupons at HEB, my bill was $80 which includes $16 in Luv's Diapers, no coupon this time :(
The big win was a coupon from coupon.com, buy two Kraft Mac n Cheese individual cups and save $1. Cups are on sale for $.79 so they came out to $.29 per cup. Can't beat that! Perfect for sides or when I need to hold the kids over for lunch.
Print as many coupons as you need, I regret only having one :(
I can't believe I used to spend $200, cook less, and toss a lot more. It hurts me to know what I could have done with that money!

Refreshing Peach Pie (no bake)
HEB has their Jello packages 2/$1
Here is a really yummy recipe
**UPDATE: Coupon.com has a $1.00 off Coupon when you buy 3 boxes of Jello. That means that you get 3 boxes of Jello for $.50.
Bring the following to a boil and make sure you are stirring often:
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of water
2 tablespoon of cornstarch
Remove from heat when it comes to a boil and add one package of peach jello mix. Mix well and let cool. While mixture is cooling, slice up fresh California peaches and lay them in a pie crust (store bought graham cracker crust or home made, all work fine). I would say about 4 large peaches (peeling is optional). Poor them mixture over the peaches, and refrigerate for about 2 hours.
You now have a super yummy refreshing pie! Top with Cool Whip!

Grocery Saving Tips: Full Chicken Meal for 4 under $3
Shop for Groceries either before 9 am or after 9:30 pm during the weekdays. You will often find chicken breast, season quarters, cubed stakes or other meats 1/2 off.
That's right, I often find chicken breasts for about $2.50 for 1.17 lbs. Just because it's reduce for "quick sale" doesn't mean it's bad. It simply means that it needs to be cooked or frozen by the the Sell By Date.
Recipe for family of 4-5 for under $3.
Cube your chicken breast (or thighs etc) that you found on "quick sale." Put 1 package of Tierra Linda spaghetti to cook ($.33 and follow package directions). In a sauce pan melt 2 tablespoons of butter, add 1 can of cream of mushroom (cream of celery or chicken will work too ($.65 HCF brand), and add 2/3 of a can of milk (use your cream of mushroom can etc to measure) to the mixture, then add your cooked chicken and let simmer slowly for 10 min. Drain your cooked pasta. Add the cream chicken over the Spaghetti.
Viola: a meal for $3 or $6 if you bought you chicken at regular price.
Options: top with HEB mozzarella cheese, or eat along with a ready mix HEB Salad
